The late nineteenth century Neo-Mudéjar-style Arc de Triomf just outside the limits of the old city walls is built on the head of a large alluvial fan produced by successive flash-flood events and awarded the prestige of its own geological name: the “Punta del Convent Formation”. The Third Tale reveals the vulnerability of Barcelona to great flood events, how these are recorded in the history and shape of the city, and the menace of the dreaded autumnal Gota Fria.
